The OG Teddy Ruxpin

Anyone who grew up in the ‘80s remembers Teddy Ruxpin. The talking bear with the cassette tape in his back hit the market in 1985, scared us all with his uncanny valley face and low battery voice, and faded into oblivion for awhile. Until now.

The air is getting crisper, the pumpkin spice latte lines are growing, and we can’t deny it any longer—it’s officially fall. To celebrate the autumn ahead and the summer we’re sad to see go, I’ve rounded up my favorite decor ideas for using beach-combed driftwood and branches you may collect on fall hikes and strolls while taking in the beautiful weather. Rather than simply display these beauties in a vase or on the wall, put them to work as shelves, railings, even chandeliers. You’ll feel like you’re living in a treehouse in no time.

Anke and John Summerhill of Minotti London renovated an upscale apartment in Barrio Gotico, at the heart of medieval Barcelona. The area is known for dark, narrow streets and historic architecture. In contrast, the couple opened up this fourth floor space, giving it a contemporary look with lots of natural daylight.
Light wooden floors and white walls create a bright backdrop for this apartment’s contemporary style. The kitchen flows easily into a stylish dining space, which is perfect for grabbing another bottle from the large wine fridge during dinner.
The dining area features a circular white marble table underneath a cool, molecular structure ceiling light in black and gold. Its mix of light and dark neutrals continues in the adjacent sitting space, creating a warm, comfortable vibe.
The design preserved much of the structure’s character, while updating its look. The Summerhills exposed original beams and brickwork in the living room, giving the contemporary space historic charm. These touches connect the space to its stunning location. [Photography and information courtesy of Minotti London]
